A POTATO company firmly established its roots in Jersey yesterday with the launch of its new £14 million packing shed.
Scottish-based Albert Bartlett (Jersey) Ltd has been involved in growing and exporting Jersey Royals for several years and is the second largest potato company in the Island.
The official opening of the complex on Trinity Hill was marked with the unveiling of a huge sculpture of a woman picking potatoes on a côtil.
Managing director Ronnie Bartlett addressed the invited guests in the pristine shed and thanked everyone who had contributed to the company’s development in Jersey.

14 million pounds does not buy much of a shed in Jersey, most of the cost is due to using local lawyers for a couple of hours.

This is good news. A local industry investing in its future.

Yes this is good news.It is good to see someone investing in Jersey as there is so much competition for growers. It is a shame it is only potatoes, large new state of the art green houses being built in the uk are cutting out imports there.

Couldn’t agree with you more Pat. Our States would sooner see our existing glasshouse sites have houses built on, rather than have them redeveloped and kept in the industry.
