Redundancy package irregularities claim

Head of employee relations Mick Pinel
AN investigation has been launched following allegations that a senior civil servant has attempted to secure a compulsory redundancy package for his wife, who works in the same department.
An unnamed individual has written to a number of senior figures, including Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf, outlining the allegations made against the officer.
The Senator said that he would ask for the claims to be looked into. ‘If nothing else the individual needs the opportunity to clear his name,’ said the Senator.
The official who is the subject of the allegations said that he could not comment upon them. However, he confirmed that his wife did work for the department and also said it was up to the States human resources department to decide who was offered redundancy packages.
The head of employee relations for the States, Mick Pinel, said that he had also received a copy of the letter in the mail and would be conducting an investigation.
