Setting off through town in last year's event
THE final pieces to the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon jigsaw are being put into position today.
Many of the various marquees around the 26.2-mile course were erected yesterday; the remainder will be completed today along with the drinks stations for the record amount of runners and teams for the fourth staging of the now annual event.
Race director Helen Baker said: ‘We’re almost there; the marquees and drinks stations are the last things to do and once they are completed we are then ready for the off.
‘We’re delighted with the number of entries we’ve had and they are certainly the best to date. There are 382 individual runners, 254 relay teams and 292 for the three-kilometre children’s race which is a massive increase on last year.
