CI hopes are dented

FIVE victims of round two leaves Piers Gould as the Channel Islands’ sole competitor in the Open Eurosurf event.
It was a tough day for the CI team, with conditions keeping the surf small in St Ouen’s Bay, but Gould progressed into round three scoring 8.17 to win his heat.
Mark Durbano and Mark Le Moignan both re-entered the Open class yesterday having taken the top two places in their repercharge heat, scoring 9.84 and 6.57.
However, they both finished third in their second round test, Durbano scoring 5.74 and Le Moignan 4.1, to exit the competition along with Renny Gould and Christian Boletta who were also third in their heats with 6.07 and 6.67 respectively.
The other casualty at this stage was Scott Eastwood whose 6.13 left him in fourth, the victim of a high scoring heat which included a 16 from Frenchman Vincent Duvignac.
