The way to protect the old Milano Bars site is to buy it
Tuesday 29th September 2009, 3:00PM BST.
From Sylvia Lee.
FOLLOWING on from Mr Gale’s letter (JEP, 19 September), it is horrifying for us who are trying to protect Jersey’s coastline to know that consideration is being given to new buildings on the old Milano Bars site.
L’Etacq coastline is one of the few bays which is at present unspoilt. Eighteen years have passed since the motion by the States to purchase the Milano Bars site.
Surely during that time the site could have been secured for the Island. I understood the motion was defeated by just one vote. No doubt I shall hear if this is incorrect.
L’Etacq, like St Ouen, is very, very special; let us make clear our views on 4 October and help to save Jersey’s heritage. Let us hope the planners are listening.
