POLITICIANS responsible for the Island’s economy will be grilled by business owners when the Chamber of Commerce holds its third annual business stimulus evening next week.

The event – regarded as the biggest in the Chamber of Commerce’s calendar – will be an opportunity for people who are involved in the business sector to question the politicians about their plans for the future of Jersey’s economy.

Taking to the stage for questioning will be Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf, Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean, Economic Affairs Scrutiny panel chairman Mike Higgins and Corporate Services Scrutiny panel chairman Sarah Ferguson.

Each politician will give a five-minute presentation on how they would stimulate the economy. Then the floor will be open to Chamber of Commerce members, who can ask questions of the guest panel. Chairing the event will be Chamber of Commerce council member James Filleul.

How about grilling some of the deputies as well who seem hell bent on wasting taxpayers’ money with their hair brain schemes but don’t have to answer to the consequences.
