CHAMPIONS Victoria College are one point clear at the top of the Channel Islands’ under-18 football league following a victory in Guernsey on Tuesday.

A clinical display from defending champions Victoria helped them return with an 8-1 victory over the Grammar school. College were three goals to the good by half time with two goals from Dan Tardivel and a fine individual effort from Nick Wildman.

Despite an early spell of pressure from the Grammar in the second half, Victoria weathered the storm before re-imposing themselves and scoring some impressive and well worked goals.

Daniel McAviney’s introduction to the 1st XI saw him net a hat-trick of fine goals while the youthful dominance of Jamie Mourant (two) and Nick Carpenter wreaked havoc in Grammar’s defence.
