A ONE-GOAL victory blew the Dominion Winter Netball League wide open last night as St Lawrence A beat reigning champions Convent A 40-39.
There was little to separate the two Division I sides following an explosive start at Les Quennevais, with spectators treated to a display of fast flowing precision netball.
The first quarter ended 12-12 and it was a similar story in the second phase with both Convent’s and Saints’ shooters netting their efforts. This was a marked turnaround for the latter who had been struggling to convert their chances in previous games and they took a 21-20 lead.
Coach Jackie Nelson said: ‘It was a fantastic match. I’ve been coach for 20 years and this is what we’ve been working towards – it was superb.’
Convent remain top, but their spot is now under threat from several teams.
