Curtis Warren and the five other members of the gang are to be sentenced by the Royal Court on 4 December

BRITAIN’S biggest drugs baron, Curtis Warren, and his five associates have been found guilty of planning to flood Jersey’s streets with £1 million worth of cannabis.

The jury in the three-week trial returned unanimous guilty verdicts just before 10.30 am to a hushed Royal Court. Warren showed no emotion when his verdict was read out but laughed when the others heard theirs.

Some members of the jury were in tears as the verdicts were read out, and judge Sir Richard Tucker exempted them from jury service for life because of the stress of the case, which has seen unprecedented levels of security in the Island.

One member of the jury was sent home on Monday in mysterious circumstances and the reasons for his departure have still not been revealed.

The remaining six men and five women took a total of 9½ hours to reach their guilty verdict for Warren (46), Jonathon Welsh (43), originally of Liverpool, James O’Brien (45), of Glasgow, and local men Paul Hunt (27), Jason Woodward (22) and Oliver Lucas (23).
