Green policy rewarded

AIRTEL-Vodafone has become the latest local company to reach Level Two of the Eco Active Business scheme.

The firm is the first telecommunications company in the Island to reach this level and has done so by demonstrating that it has significantly lessened the impact of its operations on the environment over a sustained period.

The Eco Active Business programme was set up to help local organisations to encourage them to have a positive impact on the environment.

It provides a benchmark for environmental performance as well as a standard way of assessing and rewarding companies that are making efforts to improve their environmental impact.

Iain Williams, the chief executive officer of Airtel-Vodafone, said that the company had been recognised by the scheme after agreeing to undertake a number of activities.
