A SURVEY has revealed that a high number of local businesses do not plan to make staff cuts over the next year.
Results of the Chamber of Commerce quarterly business confidence survey reveal that 83 per cent of businesses do not expect to make redundancies over the next year while 70 per cent will not reduce staff working hours.
However, Chamber of Commerce vice-president David Warr believes that there is uncertainty about redundancies in the business community, despite the figures.
‘I think there is still a huge amount of uncertainty out there,’ he said. ‘Obviously the figures are the figures but there is still a degree of nervousness.’
