SERIOUS concerns have been raised about the spiralling cost of salaries and bonuses paid to Waterfront Enterprise Board managers.
It was revealed this week that the cost of salaries, bonuses, pensions and benefits has more than trebled in the past nine years.
In 2000, about £268,000 was paid to management and staff at WEB – the quango charged with managing the reclaimed site. That figure is forecast to rise to £920,000 this year.
Senator Ben Shenton, the head of the States spending watchdog, said: ‘We seem to be pumping money into this beast without getting anything back.’
WEB managing director Steven Izatt declined to comment.
