Lauren Lowe becomes the first Jersey girl to represent Hants, with selection for the girls’ U14s
EIGHTEEN under-20 JRFC Academy boys plus one girl have been selected for full county honours without having to travel out of the Island.
And with the U16 age group still to be assessed, Jersey’s total representation could be well over 20, an excellent indication on how the sport is growing in Jersey.
A unique initiative by Hampshire RFC meant that Tim Allen, director of Club Hampshire, accepted an invitation to spend the weekend in Jersey to consult officials from the Academy on Saturday and to watch and coach players at St Peter.
After that he drew up a list of players who will represent their county without first having to play a trial game in the UK.
