CORRUPTION in the finance industry is the focus of a seminar to be held next week.

At the event, entitled The Corrupt and the Corrupted, former director of the Serious Fraud Office Robert Wardle, will explain why the issue of corruption is taking centre stage in the finance industry worldwide.

As a prosecutor, Mr Wardle has been involved in a number of high-profile investigations and prosecutions, including Polly Peck, the third Guinness appeal and investigations into allegations of corruption at BAE Systems Plc.

Mr Wardle will talk about the prevalence of corruption, often arising in jurisdictions with which Jersey does business. He will refer to case studies and will give examples of the everyday risks faced by local practitioners, as well as details of the tools available to manage the risk corruption.
