Jersey and Havant occupy the top two places in National III South after Saturday’s seventh round of matches – and Jersey RFC are the team right at the top of the pile.

An eight-try triumph away to Bishops Stortford secured a bonus point that stretched the St Peter club’s lead from one at start of play to three points by Saturday evening.

Havant, for so long the undisputed No 1 club in the county, moved into second place with an impressive 24-17 home win over Hertford, the previous occupants.

But the table remains tightly packed and at least half the division will still harbour realistic hopes of promotion. And the bonus points Jersey are picking up from their free-scoring style – six from seven games – look more and more likely to play a huge part in separating the top teams come the end of the season.
