Searching for relatives

Jennifer Leavesley, of Bewdley, Worcestershire, has e-mailed in the hope of making contact with relatives she believes live in Jersey.

She said that her paternal grandmother, Norah Emma Court, was born in St Helier in 1900. Her parents were Herbert George Court (b 1879), who was a soldier and Emma Lydia, née March (b 1873), who died prematurely in 1910.

Norah and her brother Horace (b1906) still had their maternal grandmother, Jane Jeune (b 1834) living in Jersey to care for them while their father was travelling as a soldier.

‘I am trying to trace relatives of George Alfred Jeune (b 1900) who was my father’s uncle and who lived later in life with Marguerite and Archer French at Oakleigh Guest House in Gorey,’ says Mrs Leavesley. ‘I believe they are also relatives together with another uncle named François or Francis Noel who wrote many letters to my aunt June Wassell.’
