DRUGS baron Curtis Warren was secretly flown out of the Island yesterday to one of Britain’s toughest jails.
The reasons for his abrupt removal remain a mystery but there is speculation that a plot to spring Warren from La Moye prison had been uncovered.
The Liverpool gangster – who was recently convicted alongside five others of a plot to smuggle £1 million of cannabis into the Island – has been transferred to London’s Belmarsh prison for ‘security reasons’.
The convicted drug trafficker’s legal team in Jersey and the UK were unaware of his departure until they were contacted by the JEP at lunchtime yesterday.
Armed police and officers with sniffer dogs ringed a private air taxi firm at the Airport while Warren was boarded onto the aircraft and flown to Biggin Hill airport, in south-east London.
