Harry Torpy in action in Guernsey
A JUNIOR cadet champion in Guernsey, nine-year-old Harry Torpy of Jersey is currently enduring a half-term kart marathon which began at the Three Sisters circuit, Wigan, yesterday.
After that he and his father, Dave, gradually make their way south to take in the PF International, Lincolnshire; the Wilton Mill circuit, Daventry; the highly-rated Shenington circuit near Northampton; and finally the Forest Edge Championships in Andover, where he finished second in his class last year.
When his final race is over it is a case of winding-down on his way back to his studies and, presumably, fewer adrenaline rushes in class at First Tower Primary School.
As a young karter whose ambition two years ago was winning in Guernsey, his ambition for the foreseeable future is setting new records on the UK kart circuit.
