A THREE-star hotel has become the first in Jersey to receive a top award from Britain’s tourist board just six months after it opened for business.

The Inn, formerly the Queen’s Hotel in Queen’s Road, has been given a gold award from Visit Britain. The accolade rewards high standards of accommodation and food and was given to The Inn after a Visit Britain anonymous assessor stayed at the hotel.

The Inn managing director Stephen Clipp said that since the hotel opened earlier this year, he and his team had achieved high levels of occupancy and a good local reputation for freshly cooked food.

‘We are over the moon with this accreditation, which makes us the only hotel in Jersey and one of a small number in Britain to be awarded gold by Visit Britain,’ he said. ‘We could not have met the criteria for the gold award without the hard work and commitment of our general manager Lynne Dunham and her team.’

Fair play to all at the Inn. Haven’t been there but I really hope it’ll be an inspiration to all the other wicker-furnished establishments trading under the term ‘hotel’ to get their act together also. Well done folks @ The Inn!
