Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward
THE 32-year-old motorcyclist who died in hospital on Friday after being involved in a collision with a car at Longueville has been named as Iain Burrell.
Mr Burrell, who was married with a young daughter, was the captain of Beeches RFC and was a great rugby enthusiast. Popular among players, he was usually in a prop position or No 8.
As a mark of respect, a minute’s silence was held in his memory at rugby games held in the Island over the weekend, including at the National League game between Jersey and Portsmouth at St Peter on Saturday.
Mr Burrell, who worked at Pentagon, had been due to make a guest appearance on Saturday for Wanderers against St Jacques, and before the kick off of that game players from Beeches Rugby Club lined the sideline and a minute’s silence was held.
The accident took place on Friday at noon when his blue motorcycle collided with a Fiat car as it pulled out of Falle’s Service Station on Longueville Road, St Saviour.
Mr Burrell died at the General Hospital at 2 pm.
