AN OLD country pub is being brought up to date with a £250,000 makeover.
Work began yesterday to refurbish St Mary’s Country Inn, which is owned by the Liberation Group.
The group’s chief executive, Mark Crowther, said that while the aim was to modernise the pub, the historic features and charm of the former 17th-century farmhouse would be respected.
The pub lounge will remain open while the bar is being refurbished and when the bar is finished it will stay open while the lounge is being renovated.
