Jersey’s captain Talite Vaioleti is fit again and is ready to come off the bench against Basingstoke tomorrow afternoon
JERSEY Rugby Club take on one of their top rivals in the National Three London League tomorrow.
They play away against Basingstoke RFC, who have won three matches in a row, including a closely-fought win over Jersey’s closest contestants, Bracknell.
The match marks the start of a vital period for Jersey, during which they will meet most of the top clubs hoping for promotion to National League II.
Despite topping the league with 35 points and having scored 381 points from eight games, including a 67-10 home win against Portsmouth last weekend, Jersey are by no means the finished article.
‘Because of the scoreline other people no doubt thought we were better than we were,’ said coach Ben Harvey ‘But this was not the best rugby we’ve played and we’ll be found out against a better side. We actually did a lot of things poorly.’
Of Basingstoke, he added: They’ll be a decent team, coming into this game with confidence and like every club in this league will fancy their chances playing at home.’
