Jersey’s Mariana Agathangelou
Two of Jerseys’ badminton stars have lost in their opening games in the French Open in Paris.
Representing England in the competition, sponsored by Yonex, Jersey’s Mariana Agathangelou, partnering Scotland’s Jillie Cooper, went down to the Swedish No I women’s pairing of Emelie Lennartsson and Emma Wengberg 10-21, 21-19, 21-16.
Agathangelou then teamed up with Robin Middleton in the mixed pairs yesterday, only to lose to last week’s Denmark Open winners and fourth seeds Joachim Fischer-Nielsen and Christinna Pederson, 21-12, 21-15.
