THREE members of the same family jumped 10,000 feet out of a plane to raise money for charity.

Julia (55) and Byron (58) Le Cornu and their daughter Abigail (27) made the jump in memory of Julia’s father, Donald Wellman, who passed away in March this year.

Donald attended the renal clinic for the last four years of his life and the family wanted to show their appreciation of the care and support he was given during that time. They raised £2,560, which was handed over to the Jersey Renal Charitable Trust last week.

Julia, a Lloyds TSB Bank receptionist, paid tribute to the work undertaken at the clinic. She said: ‘My father enjoyed an extra four years of life because of the wonderful work done by Dr Ajay Kumar and his team. We cannot thank them enough.

‘Our thanks also go to the fund-raising support we received from my friends and colleagues at Lloyds TSB Bank. They have been marvellous.

‘Our other daughter, Lucy, also did a huge amount of fund-raising, so she was the fourth member of the team.’

Julia said that it took four attempts before they could jump because the weather had led to cancellations. ‘The build-up to it was a bit stressful,’ she admitted, ‘but when we actually did it was very quick but amazing. I cannot really compare it to anything else. It was a fantastic experience.’
