Hayward destroys St Peter’s cup hopes

ST JOHN, of the Dandara Combination Championship, pulled off the only shock result of the eight Le Riche Cup first round ties on Saturday.
Few would have given much for their chances away to St Peter, who are currently in second spot in the Premiership.
As it was their lack of cutting edge proved fatal in the cup as it only took one goal to give minnows victory, that being supplied by Joel Hayward early in the second half.
Constant pressure on the St John defence failed to crack the northerners who were, apparently, inspired after being written off in the JEP on Friday.
