His position is simply untenable

From Steve Ray.
YOU kindly published a letter from me some months ago calling for Senator Syvret to do the honourable thing and resign as he was behaving like a spoiled child.
I felt that as someone who (now regrettably) had voted for him he was clearly not doing as promised in his election campaign, but was now on a personal crusade against the Island’s establishment.
I now read (JEP, 3 November) that he is believed to be in London claiming political asylum. As he has not resigned from his Senatorial seat, I believe that his position is untenable and that he is drawing his States Member’s salary under false pretences.
I have no doubt that if any other States employee behaved in this manner they would be disciplined.
I now call upon Senator Le Sueur and the Council of Ministers to take some firm and strong action to remove Senator Syvret from his seat in the House and allow someone else the opportunity to do what all Members are elected and paid to do, which is to represent the people of Jersey and to make government decisions, not use the protection of the House to embark on personal crusades.
