A VISUALLY impaired runner and her guide completed a section of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon in September, their team raising £300 for charity.

Jenny Stafford, who is sight-impaired, ran leg four of the relay race, covering 4.5 miles with her guide, friend and work colleague Helen Barker.

The pair were part of the Royal Bank of Canada Penthouse Panthers team and raised a total of £300 for local charity Seeing is Believing, which funds projects that give underprivileged people access to eye care.

Jenny said: ‘I chose Seeing Is Believing as they do great work to provide eye care to people who would not normally receive it.

‘As a visually impaired person, I know the difficulties, challenges and prejudice that people can face daily.

‘Having the opportunity to run in the marathon as part of a RBC relay team was fantastic. I did it as a personal challenge and I really enjoyed the day.

‘There was a great atmosphere and the support from the people along the route was fantastic. I’m also very thankful to my running buddy Helen Barker – I couldn’t have done it without her.’

Staff from the RBC wealth management team are on target to raise more than £10,000 for local charities after they entered 40 relay teams and 11 marathon runners this year.
