JAMES FRY, the current UK Southern Centre champion, won the expert class from fellow UK rider Ricky Wiggins at this year’s Open two day motorcycle trials event in Jersey at the weekend.
.
Held in extremely mixed conditions, over a wide range of courses in the north and west of the Island, the annual event had many hundreds of spectators turning out to watch a feast of trials riding from 107 riders from the UK, Jersey and Guernsey.

Overall, UK riders dominated the event, with only one Jersey finisher in the top five in any class.

After securing his third triumph in Jersey, Fry said: ‘It was tough as the sections set were constantly challenging – about the same standard as I would expect to see at a British championship. Ricky [Wiggins] pushed me very hard on both days and today was particularly tough as rocks are not my favourite surface. Nevertheless, a great two days and I am delighted to have won.’

Current Junior World champion Alexz Wigg was third – on a bike which was made in the same year as he was born, 1989!

Top Jersey rider was Adam Le Cheminant who took an excellent eighth place in the Expert Route and with it the Maine Cup for top Island rider. Top female rider was Emma Bristow who finished in 11th place.
