BOXING fans got a glimpse of the future for Leonis ABC on Saturday night as they took on and drew 5-5 with an Essex Select at the Waterfront Radisson.
Despite the foul weather and other sporting distractions in the Island and elsewhere in the world, a packed audience of around 300 friends and family members turned up to cheer on the novice boxers.
Although for some it was either their first or just second time in the ring, all showed that the South Hill-based club has plenty to look forward to.
Dave Thompson, head coach of Leonis, said: ‘We’ve got a raw and young team compared to what we had and the boys have done very well. All the kids on display fought very well, especially as it was the first fight for some of them. They have a lot to look forward to and we are delighted with their progress.’
