THE Jersey Employers Network on Disability (JEND) says that businesses must be aware that an understanding of disability issues is as vital during difficult times as when the economy is booming.

JEND chairman Sally Gallichan is concerned that this message is not being heeded, to the extent that some companies are even dropping network membership as part of a general drive to make savings.

The organisation’s next breakfast seminar, to be held from 8 to 10 am on 19 November at the Pomme d’Or, will feature presentations on the impact of strokes on the working population.

However, the meeting will also highlight the importance of JEND’s work in all areas of disability and in the promotion of workplace diversity.
