A JERSEY tattoo artist accused of trying to smuggle far-right hate propaganda into England was a follower of cult killer Charles Manson and even had a lock of his hair, a court in London heard yesterday.

Jon Denny-Mallen (40) named his Hope Street tattoo parlour ‘Helter Scelter’ in honour of the Beatles song used by Manson to prophesy a race war, it was alleged.

Mr Denny-Mallen, who was also known was ‘Junkyard Jonny’, was arrested after police intercepted a delivery of racist music CDs to his Hope Street studio.

However, in a police interview the defendant denied holding extreme right-wing views. He told police: ‘Helter Scelter is a way that families should live and communities should live. We’re trying to create a more harmonious place and nice place for people to live and grow up.’ The trial continues.
