Good news for two Island-lovers

From Anthony and Josephine Aylen.
WE have just received copies of the JEP of 9 and 10 November, outlining the problems faced by the Heritage Trust and the news that £800,000 will be set aside in order to give them a chance for a fresh start.

This is welcome news indeed, and hopefully should be the start of a concerted effort to turn around their fortunes and allow them to become a useful educational and revenue organisation for many generations of Islanders and visitors in the future.

It seems to be a sound decision and great news for the many loyal staff and helpers who make up the workforce at these valuable sites. As visitors, we are excited by the prospect of being able to revisit Hamptonne and the other threatened sites on our next visit to Jersey.

What must be done now is to ensure that a full professional review is taken in order to bring the sites into the 21st century as far as business planning is concerned, in order to eventually make them self-sufficient and an asset to the Island’s economy as well as its great history.

Wonderful news, and thanks for your efforts in helping to stave off the ‘execution’ from two very staunch supporters and lovers of the Island.
