Marcus Liddiard in training on the beach at Le Pulec
ISLAND adventurer Marcus Liddiard has been selected to join an ambitious expedition to reach one of the last unexplored places on earth.
The 33-year-old manager at CPA Global is to join accomplished explorer Jim McNeill in a bid to reach the Arctic Pole, which is also known as the Northern Pole of Inaccessibility
The point is defined as the furthest point from land in the Arctic Ocean and remains a significant place in the polar regions. Marcus said that it was yet to be reached by man and was more than 200 miles further than the geographic North Pole. The whole journey is 800 miles long and starts from the northern shores of Canada and takes in the North Magnetic Pole.
Marcus has now started training for the Ice Warrior Arctic Pole Expedition 2010. He is hoping to take on one of the four 200-mile legs, pushing the route across the Arctic Ocean.

The 11th Great Garden Bird Watch took place over the weekend, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February. JEP readers were asked to get on board to help monitor bird life in the Island.
What a wonderful waste of time and resources. There can not be anything there that has not been seen by an airoplane.

Were not for adventurers such as Marcus Liddiard we would still believe Guernsey men had pointy ears and ate carrots.
