JERSEY has another busy international cricket year to look forward to in 2010 after being promoted to European World Cricket League Division I for the first time.

And the Island will host the Division I tournament next year, between 1 and 7 July, when they will face the A-teams from Ireland, Holland and Scotland as well as Denmark and Italy’s top sides.

Jersey were due to play Norway in a play-off for Division I, having won the Division II tournament against hosts Guernsey by one run during the summer, but ICC Europe has decided to dispence with the play-off and promote Jersey and relegate Norway to Division II.

Jersey Director of Cricket Chris Minty said: ‘We are delighted to be hosting another prestigious tournament for the first time and because the full international teams have a busy 2010 it will be an A-team tournament.’
