Holidays for Heroes deserves our support

From Alan Gillett.
I AM writing to you regarding the scandalous destroying of the bonfire in St Martin. As well as benefiting the Gorey Fête Committee, it would have enabled them to raise £5,000 for our worthwhile charity Holidays for Heroes.
This charity gives injured servicemen the chance to enjoy our Island accompanied by their families and carers.
These servicemen have put their lives on the line fighting to protect the cowardly morons who have no idea of anything except desecrating the efforts of those who try to make life more comfortable for those injured in protecting us.
I am a pensioner and an ex-serviceman who is thankful to have come through the last war relatively unscathed. My thoughts today are ‘do the right thing, own up, if you have the bottle. Put cowardice behind you and be a human being.’
In a small way, I am sending a contribution to the charity and would urge those of a similar nature to myself to do something, however small, financially or materially for the Gorey Fête Committee.
They can be contacted on 862973 (Mr Richardson) or Holidays for Heroes on 482035 ( Mrs Gaiger).
