Unsightly legacies

From Sandra Wakeham.
WITH another eyesore approved, this time at Havre des Pas (JEP, 19 November), one can’t help but wonder if, long after he’s gone, Senator Freddie Cohen will still be remembered forever by future generations as ‘Blot on the Landscape’.

Great follow up to my letter Sandra and to think he gets paid to do this.

I hope he is removed from the states at the next elections. Some of these latest developments have been appalling and so out of keeping with Jersey and its history in my homest opinion as to make me shudder. Hopefully with their inbuilt obsolescene they will be gone within 30 years.

I can just image future generations looking at Jersey’s heritage of grand old granite buildings interspersed with modern builds. It would be like putting a Constable next to a piece of art created by one’s pet in a fine art museum. Not what I call life enriching.

Maybe it is about time to have a flying banana award for the worst looking new development every year in Jersey?

Many of these type of devopments are not sold to locals – they are sold to overseas ‘investors’.

I’m sure they’re put on sale to anybody, who buys them is of little concern to the vendors just so long as he sells them.
