SPORTS fans have new grounds to enjoy their extra time.

After a £150,000 makeover, the former BBar in Wharf Street has reopened as Champions Sports Bar and Grill.

The new sports bar boasts 15 HD plasma screens – some as big as 60 in – and owners have spent £20,000 on sports memorabilia including signed pictures of Muhammad Ali, Lewis Hamilton and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bar owners Spencer Bourne and Johnny Young hope that one of the first visitors to Champions will be retired boxer Joe Calzaghe.

‘We have got him lined up to come over for a question and answer evening and we will be inviting other sports celebrities too,’ said Mr Young.

    human knowledge.
