Police investigate post-match ‘fight’

A FOOTBALLER was allegedly attacked and threatened with a baseball bat following a bad tackle in a match on Saturday.

Police have spoken to several people following the alleged post-match fight, which is thought to have been sparked by a clash between two players in the first half of the game between Jersey Wanderers and St Martin SCF at the Hockey Club, St Peter.

A police spokesman confirmed that on Saturday at 6 pm officers had been asked to investigate a complaint of one man assaulting another at the football ground but that no arrests had been made. The spokesman said that inquiries were continuing and that officers had spoken to several people who were at the match.
