Jersey captain Talite Viaolette powers through the Hertford defence
APPROACHING the half-way stage of the season Jersey remain a tremendous nine points clear of their nearest rivals in National III South East, after chalking up their 11th consecutive victory on Saturday.
All but one of those victories included a bonus point, for scoring at least four tries, and the first-half demolition of a good Hertford side, in testing conditions at St Peter, earned a 39-13 victory, though the visitors actually ‘won’ the second-half 5-3.
Second-placed Old Albanians and third-placed Bracknell, the pre-season favourites to fill top two slots, both responded with bonus point victories themselves, but with one game played against all opposition, bar struggling Tring, things are certainly looking rosy for Jersey.
But Jersey officials are keeping the players heads out of the clouds as the possibility of the title, automatic promotion and a shot at a Twickenham ‘Champions’ finale to season takes stronger shape.
