A JERSEY-registered company whose name is synonymous with stamps, collecting and investment is opening a St Helier office.

Stanley Gibbons, established in 1856 and now an AIM-listed international organisation, will be opening the new office in Vine Street.

Last Friday a reception for clients and business associates of the firm was held at the Radisson Hotel to outline plans for the Island operation and to highlight the investment opportunities linked to high-value stamps and signatures of famous personalities past and present.

One of the stamps presented – and on sale – was a 1969 Jersey ten-shilling issue depicting the Royal Court which has a green instead of the intended slate-blue border. Only 25 of this rarity are known to exist.
