THE last time that table-toppers Jersey RFC played Tring, they lost to them.

‘We knew that we weren’t about to get promotion, while they were fighting against relegation,’ said head coach Ben Harvey ahead of Saturday’s away visit to a side close to the bottom of National League III, London and SE.

‘Effectively we were just going through the motions but you also have to take the pitch into account. It’s huge – with a slope on it so big it’s almost like playing on a hill!

‘So even if we do win this week, it might be that we don’t pick up another bonus point. And besides, the weather forecast is such that the game could turn into another lottery. But I suppose that’s what you’d expect, this time of year.’
