Saints end year as favourites

ST CLEMENT A will go into the second half of the Dominion Winter Netball League season the clear favourites to win the Division I title.

They stretched their lead at the top this week, when only four matches were played at Les Quennevais, grinding out a 38-27 win against St Lawrence B.

St Lawrence played a smart game, cashing in on interceptions and getting goals straight back, to stay within touching distance of their opponents in the first half which ended 16-15 in St Clement’s favour.

However, in the second half the league leaders came out with a renewed determination and six successive goals tipped the game in their favour and they extended their five goal lead at the end of the third quarter to nine by the final whistle.
