Les Quennevais School roar back to lift cup

LES Quennevais School scored two unanswered goals in each half to win the Year-8 final 4-0 against Grainville at the FB Fields on Saturday morning.

But it was far from plain sailing for Les Quennevais as goalkeeper Nicolai Hansen – who saved three kicks in a penalty shoot-out semi-final win the previous weekend – kept Les Quennevais in the game again with three excellent saves in the first half.

Francis Lekimamati struck first with a 25-yard effort that flew into a top corner and then Dan McFarlen raced on to a through ball to make it 2-0 shortly before half time.

With the wind in their favour Les Quennevais knocked the ball around well after the interval and they capitalised further with an own goal before Jack Gibson rounded off the scoring when he lobbed Grainville’s goalkeeper from 20 yards.

Les Quennevais master Craig Northedge said: ‘Ben Field had a great game in the centre of midfield, his work-rate was excellent throughout and he was our man-of-the-match.
