Potential bidders queue to speak to representatives from the Housing Department
MORE than 300 local businesses hoping to benefit from up to £100 million worth of States stimulus projects found out how they could bid for the contracts last week.
Civil engineers, builders, drainage services, plumbers, carpenters, joiners, stone masons, roofers and window suppliers turned up to an event organised by Jersey Enterprise to speak to representatives from States departments.
Up to £100m worth of States work is due to hit the market in 2010. There were already plans for more than £70m worth of construction and maintenance work but the fiscal stimulus programme will add another £20m to £30m worth of work into the economy.
Around 40 projects of varying sizes will be reaching the market in the next three months. Some of the contracts will be for projects that will continue into 2011 and beyond.
All projects will be put out for tender using the new States of Jersey online portal at www.tenders.gov.je.
