The Grouville float which took part in this year's Moonlight Parade
AS the Island prepares to go into Battle again this weekend for the Christmas parade, it has been revealed that this year’s summer events were a financial success.
The August parades saw a ten per cent increase in ticket sales compared with 2008 and the Battle’s income was also up by 14 per cent on last year.
The parade’s finance director, Kevin Keen, delivered this year’s financial report to float builders and board members at the Battle Association’s annual general meeting this week.
Mr Keen said that tickets sales for the Thursday day parade were up by five per cent, while Moonlight Parade tickets were up by 17 per cent.
He said that he believed this was a result of not increasing the prices of tickets and advertising the event more to Islanders.
• The Christmas parade takes place in town romorrow, starting from West Park at 5.45 pm.
