A MAN who claimed to be a super-rich Jersey 1(i)k resident and dreamed up a plan for a floating hotel in the Harbour has gone on trial in the Royal Court accused of fraud.
Paul Andrew Self (52), who also planned to develop La Folie pub, is accused of forging a letter from bank BNP Paribas, which said that he had over £270,000 in an account with them.
The court heard yesterday that he wrote the letter to get an overdraft from Royal Bank of Scotland International to fund his projects.
However, the prosecution claimed that Norwich-born Mr Self, who appeared in the dock on the opening day of the trial, did not hold any funds in the bank and criminally obtained an overdraft from RBSI for £50,000.
