TO stand the best chance of winning anything in the Island it would seem you need to get a job in the finance industry.

For the second year in a row a syndicate from a bank has scooped the top prize in this year’s Channel Islands Christmas lottery draw.

Ten IT workers from Standard Chartered Bank were the lucky winners of the record £651,000 prize, taking home just over £65,000 each the week before Christmas.

In 2008, 20 bank workers from RBC wealth management won the top prize of £553,000 and in the summer 20 staff from a trust company bought the winning ticket for the Jersey Hospice Million Pound Lottery.

This year’s lucky IT syndicate was celebrating its early Christmas present with the finest champagne in the office yesterday morning.
