TWO Islanders have faced justice for carrying out terrifying night-time attacks on the streets of St Helier – just days before the launch of a new crime-fighting task force.

In one case, 20-year-old Scott Williamson was sentenced to two years’ youth detention by the Royal Court for threatening a man with a knife in an unprovoked attack in Columbus Street.

The court heard that Williamson approached the man, who was walking through town with his girlfriend, and began making stabbing gestures with a three-inch serrated blade.

In a separate case in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday, Anthony Craig Volante (18) was ordered to pay £2,500 compensation, was sentenced to 180 hours’ community service and was banned from licensed premises for two years for breaking a teenager’s leg in an assault outside a St Helier nightclub.

The court heard that Volante punched his victim before pushing him to the floor and stamping on his leg.
