THE mobile phone company launched by Jersey Post got off to ‘a flying start’ on
its first day of trading on Saturday.

The company, named me:mo, opened its doors to the public at the main Post Office in Broad Street and on the first day more than 100 people joined the pay-as-you-go network.

The launch means there are now four mobile phone companies competing for business in Jersey. However, the new business is the first ‘virtual network’, as it uses the Airtel Vodafone network and does not have its own masts.

Jersey Post executive marketing manager Justin Thorne said: ‘The response from the public was tremendous. The number of customers who came onto the network was about double what we were expecting.’

It’s nearly midnight. Not a single comment has been posted for or against Jersey Post’s mobile phone service.

What has happened to all those self-important people who so scathingly criticised this venture when it was announced only a few weeks ago?

Where are all those people who got so upset about redundancies in the island’s existing telecom businesses.

    Your silence is echoing.
