Iona Richardson: Two long-course Island records at the Leander Open
AIB Tigers swimmers were in fine form at the at the Plymouth Leander Open meet over the weekend with two Island records and five swimmers recording national qualifying times.
Kerry Smith and Ebony Jacklin recorded two NQTs apiece while there was one each for Tom Gallichan, Charlotte Manning and Gio Guarino.
The two Island long-course records were both achieved by Iona Richardson, the 50m freestyle in 27.55 seconds and the 100 free in 59.44.
Tigers coach Nathan Jégou said: ‘Our swimmers can be proud of their performances; it was a high quality level-one meeting, with everyone looking to gain places in the British Championship in March but unfortunately we just missed out there.’
